November, 2009: Resolution OTDR for Fiber Optic Based Avionics Testing

COTSWORKS is now reselling Luciol's LOR hi-resolution OTDR. The LOR series of fiber optic testers are portable units with a touchscreen, computer based system with easy to navigate user interface, and patent pending photon counting technology that eliminates dead zones and provides accuracy to look through avionics cables and troubleshoot areas of concern as small as a few inches. "We are pleased to have COTSWORKS reselling and supporting our products for aerospace customers in the USA" says Bruno Huttner, General Manager. Evaluation units, custom cable interfaces, and avionics kits are available along with the LOR series from COTSWORKS.

July, 2009: Cleveland, OH. COTSWORKS, LLC, a leader in fiber optic connectivity solutions for harsh environments including military, aerospace, and industrial applications, announced the release of an 850nm SX standard 100Mbps to 4Gbps speed opto-electric transceiver with better than industrial temperature operation. The RJ-SX family of transceivers can operate under industry standard protocols such as Ethernet, Fibre Channel, or Infiniband, as well as mil/aero specific ones such as AFDX and ARINC 818. Key advantages over alternative solutions are:

1. Approximately 1/3 the size of commercial transceivers reduces board space requirement

2. Surface mount and screw mount board attach ensures rugged operation and ease of assembly

3. SFF-8472 diagnostics and monitoring enables real-time feedback and predictive failure support

4. 40 to 95C temperature operation for military, aerospace, and industrial operation

5. One board design with speed options of 100Mb to 4Gbps support simplifies ordering, support, and reduces cost

6. Screw mount laser/receiver to board to case mechanism prevents cable insertion or removal damage in the field

7. Non-RoHS support

8. Standard or high powered VCSELs with LC connector or pigtail configurations

9. Separate power planes for Tx and Rx prevents catastrophic failures

10. Active design and support available from English speaking USA citizens
